A little known fact about Susan

Few people know...

The only original part of Susan Preston, author's Aorta is the arch.

She says...
The rest is there, but it does not take the blood from my heart to the rest of my body. A rather complex, custom designed graft/stent contains the blood flow.

Catching a cold from my grandson in Scotland probably saved my life.

Long after I came home a persistent cough remained, and my husband insisted I tell the doctor. He ordered an X-Ray, and the radiographer sent me back to the doctor. She had noticed a second Aortic Aneurysm.

The red areas are the ballooned aorta - the surgeon's explanation.

From the aorta other arteries feed off taking blood to other, essential parts of the body.

The graft would be long, and the 'spaces' for the small stents into those arteries had to be lined up perfectly.

Dr Brendan Stanley, vascular surgeon

After many appointments, and detailed warnings of the dangers, Dr Brendan Stanley agreed to undertake the difficult procedure.

This man and a skilled team at Fremantle Hospital inserted the graft into my aorta.

No longer am I the 'walking time-bomb' that another surgeon called me.

At that time, only Hold the Faith was published.  It went on to win a Finalist Award in an International Book Award Contest in 2016.

Now, there is a series of five books, and book four, Keep the Flame, was a Finalist in the 2017 Book Awards.

Like the Covers?

I am privileged to know a very skillful and gifted photographer.

The cover images for books 1, 2, 3, and 5 are her awesome work.

These images were taken by her, in her home State of Tasmania, Australia.

The Light of Truth cover is the Southern Lights. Aurora Australis.
